Chris Loveless had an outstanding high school career as a wrestler at Payson High School, graduating in 1992. Chris started coaching at Payson High School in 2002 and coached for nine seasons. His hard work and dedication to Payson Wrestling led to a flourishing of the program. During his nine year at the helm of Payson Wrestling, Coach Loveless's teams finished in the top eight in the state every year, and in the top three six times, with one 2nd place finish and two state championships.
The highlight of his coaching career came in 2009 and 2010 when he led his team in back-to-back 4A State Championship Titles and both years received the honor of being named Utah 4A Coach of the Year. Chris has influenced and coached many fine athletes, including 19 high school state champions, 15 state runners-up, and over 72 state placers. Coach Loveless was inducted into the Nebo Hall of Fame in 2010.
Following his time teaching and coaching at Payson High School, he continued to serve the community as the assistant principal at PHS for seven years. He was then appointed as the head principal at Spanish Fork Junior High School. Tragically, Coach Loveless passed away suddenly from a heart attack in July, 2024, at the age of fifty.
