Madoline Dixon

Historian & Author

PHS Class of 1927

Madoline Cloward Dixon, gifted with musical talent, keenly interested in community events, and highly experienced as a newspaper correspondent, authored a comprehensive history of Payson City. In it she illuminates Payson history with the eloquence of true love for her native city. Her efforts are the result of many hours spent talking to the older citizens who remember many past events and searching through records that past generations had put into writing.

Madoline graduated from Payson High School in 1927 and became a self-taught writer by working with various editors and writers. She was a correspondent for three newspapers for over 25 years. Many of her stories have been published in national magazines. She was a member of the League of Utah Writers, Daughters of Utah Pioneers, and the National League of Penwomen.
