Vernon J. Finch

PHS Class of 1945

At age six his family moved to a farm west of Payson. Vernon attended schools in Payson, graduating from PHS in 1945. After graduation, he joined the US Navy, completing his training just as WWII was coming to an end. Vernon attended Utah State University and completed a Bachelors Degree in Industrial Arts Education. He later earned a Masters Degree from Brigham Young University in Educational Administration. He loved his time as a teacher. After teaching, he served our students as the principal of Payson Junior High School, then as the principal at Payson High School. Later, he was promoted to become the Director of Vocational and Secondary Education for Nebo School District. Vernon's brother Robert Finch is also a PHS Distinguished Alumnus.
