Graduate Studies

PhD Programs

Students interested in pursuing a PhD program are encouraged to prioritize undergraduate research experiences.

See Research Courses for opportunities for Research for Credit, completing an Honors Thesis, departmental research scholarships, and tips for getting involved in a research lab. Many opportunities require an application, so plan ahead!

Master's Programs

There are various types of Master's programs, including professional skills masters, thesis or non-thesis based masters, and accelerated bachelor's & master's (ABM). Requirements for admission vary by program. Talk to your BME Advisor about finding the right master's program for you!

Lampe Joint BME MS MedTech

This is an 11-month program for students interested in acquiring the skills necessary to lead biomedical-related early-stage ventures or to drive new product development in healthcare industries.

NC State Accelerated Bachelor's & Master's Programs (ABMs)

3.5+ GPA required
Double count up to 12 credit hours, utilizing grad classes for both undergrad and grad degrees
Talk with your advisor by junior year to informally express interest and formally apply in senior year

- Engineering couress (grade B or better) at 500-level can count towards MS

- Six-Sigma Green Blet for project management
- Quality Management Systems Internal Auditor necessary for ISO 13485 compliance
- Or earn both!
Program Details
- Eligibility: Minimum 3.5 GPA
- Tuition: Approx $11K per semester (in-staet)
- Application Deadline: January 30
- No letters of recommendation required
