Students must allow a at least one hour of commute time between UNC and NC State courses that require in-person attendance. Additional time is recommended.
The BME Shuttle runs between NC State's Centennial Campus and UNC's School of Medicine. The trip typically takes about 45 minutes, depending on traffic. It operates Monday through Friday, 8am - 5pm. All BME students, faculty and staff are eligible to ride for free with their University ID card. The bus departs from NC State on even hours and from UNC on odd hours. On-demand pickup and drop off is available at NC State's College of Veterinary Medicine.
Students with a paid campus parking permit on their Home campus are eligible to receive a reciprocal parking permit at the Partner campus.
NC State students: Email the UNC Transportation Office at parking@unc.edu to request reciprocal parking at UNC.
UNC students: Email Darlene West at dwest3@ncsu.edu to request reciprocal parking at NC State.
It takes a couple of days to set up a reciprocal permit, so you should not plan to come to NC State until you hear directly from NC State Transportation that your permit is active.
Reciprocal parking is typically located in the Fringe Lot of Varsity Lot.
UNC-based students without a paid UNC parking permit may purchase an NC State parking permit on the NC State Transportation website while supplies last. Permits are available for fall, spring, and summer terms. NC State also provides park-and-ride lots for those with cars but without parking permits, all served by Wolfline buses.
