Calendar
Each university has its own academic calendar. Note differences in add/drop deadlines, Wellness Days, holidays and final exam days. You are expected to follow the calendar of the institution offering the course. Check the NC State and UNC Academic calendars accordingly.
Note that you are still expected to attend Partner campus class even if your Home campus has a Wellness day.
Course Credit
To get credit for your Partner campus course at your Home campus, a placeholder course will be added to your Home campus schedule (prefix BMME/JDP for NC State-based students or BMEU for UNC-based students). This allows your final course grade to appear on both your Home and Partner campus transcripts.
Note that BME and BMME courses with equivalent course numbers and courses required for the major (e.g. Organic Chemistry) transfer over seamlessly. Check non-BME major courses on the Transfer Credit databases to see if and how they will transfer.
NC State students: For courses not on the table, contact the specific department for approval.
UNC students: For courses not on the table, submit a Course Pre-Approval Form through General Advising.
Accommodations
If you receive accommodations through the Disability Resource Office/Equal Opportunity and Compliance Office, please contact DRO/EOC to get your accommodations transferred to the Partner campus.
Tuition
For Fall and Spring semester courses, pay tuition for all courses to your home campus. For Summer courses, pay tuition to the campus offering the course. Note any differences in summer billing deadlines and check your Partner campus email account regularly!
UNC Students: If you are taking several classes at NC State in a single semester, you might consider opting in to NC State's Course Ready program. Students who sign up for the program will have day one access to all required textbooks, lab manuals, access codes, and electronic books for their NC State courses for a flat rate per semester.
Course Platform
NC State primarily uses Moodle, and UNC primarily uses Canvas. If you are enrolled in a Partner campus course, the platform should match what the university uses. Instructors will communicate with you via your Partner campus email account, so make sure to check that inbox!
Emergency Communication
NC State Students: Follow these steps to receive Alert Carolina emergency text messages regarding UNC emergency warnings, crime alerts, and adverse conditions.
UNC Students: Follow these steps to receive WolfAlert emergency text messages regarding NC State crime warnings, safety notices, emergency and inclement weather notifications.
Final Exam Conflicts
UNC and NC State do not coordinate final exam schedules, so you may have conflicting final exams across the campuses. For multiple exams in a short time period, students should follow the rules and procedures for exam excuses on the campus that hosts the course for which they seek to reschedule an exam. Students who have conflicting examination times, including reasonable travel time between campuses, may reschedule one exam.
