Minors

BME students often complete a minor alongside their BME major requirements. You can even complete a minor or certificate at the partner campus, provided that your home campus does not offer a minor with the same name.

Some minors require courses that overlap with BME major requirements. With careful planning, BME students can complete one of these minors with minimal additional coursework.

• Data Science in Eng Anal & Decision Making (6+ additional credit hours)

• Nano-Science & Technology (3+ additional credit hours)

Students pursuing a minor at UNC: UNC requires that at least nine hours of core requirements in the minor must be completed at UNC–Chapel Hill (full policy here).

• Courses used in the BME major are considered in-residence at the partner institution. 

• Courses not used in the BME major are subject to each university’s rules for majors and minors.
