USRP and SDR computer configuration and power limits

For the USRP B200, B210, B200mini, B205mini the maximum power output, at maximum gain, is between +6 and +16 dBm, depending on frequency [1].

The maximum Tx gain for the B200mini is +89 dB.

Ettus does not recommend using the B200mini at the high gain values, especially for non-trivial waveforms, such as something other than a CW tone.

The spectrum should stay clean for gain values up to around +50 dB, but this also depends on the numerical signal level in software.

For OAI, Ettus suggests keeping the gain in the range of +30 to +50 dB, but also making sure that the signal level in software (in OAI) is not too high.

Input power limits

- B205mini: The maximum safe input power is 0 dBm.

- USRP X300/X310 with UBX: max. -15 dBm (Note that it depends on the daughterboard).

- USRP N300/N310: max. -15 dBm.

Use UHD 4.0!

X310 and N310

X310 and N310 can be configured to use both of their interfaces at 10 Gbps

usrp benchmark tests that are supported by them:

- X310 with UBX160 daughter board: 2x153 MHz

- N310: 2x200 MHz

SDR computer configuration

For multicore computers, work with the cores, not hyperthreading

CPU governs:

- set for performance

- for each core, set to max. CPU clock (turbo frequency), 4.5 GHz for Xeon W-2255

Docker

Use latest Docker version

Ubuntu 20.04 LTS

5.3 or 5.4 kernel
