Uniform items are issued to Cadets during the first two weeks of school, then as needed as Cadets outgrow specific items and need new ones issued and tailored. There is no cost to the Cadet or their parents for uniform or tailoring. The only cost to the Cadet and their parents is the cost of keeping the uniform items clean. We only issue dry-cleaned uniforms to cadets therefore uniforms must be returned to us dry-cleaned. Uniforms must be returned to the NJROTC office by the end of May or when a Cadet leaves the program. In order for a uniform item to be accepted back by our unit, it must be dry-cleaned and brought to the Unit in the dry-cleaning bag with the dated receipt attached. The Cadet's name must be on the receipt. A $20.00 fee will be accessed if the uniform is not returned dry-cleaned. If the cadet was issued a service dress uniform in addition of the basic uniform then it's a $30.00 fee. Exceptions will be made on a case-by-case basis.
All cadets sign an acknowledgement that they received the uniform with the understanding that the uniform is property of the U. S. Government and they are required to return it to NJROTC. Likewise, the Cadets parent or guardian is required to sign acknowledging they accept responsibility for the items issued to their son/daughter/ward with the understanding the items are U.S. Government property and failure to return the uniform will require the parent to reimburse the U.S. Government for the value of any uniform items which may be lost or mutilated through misconduct or carelessness. If the Cadet fails to return the uniform or the parent/guardian fails to make restitution, a charge for theft of government property will be filed with the SRO and school administration. Cadets will not be allowed to participate in sports or attend school functions (including graduation) until they have cleared all obligations. In addition, cadets who return to the program will not be issued another uniform until all obligations are cleared.
