Welcome Parents/Guardians to Dundalk High School NJROTC. As Instructors, we are looking forward to a great school year. As our mission states, we are here to help instill a sense of accomplishment in our cadets by promoting patriotism, honor, self-discipline and leadership while developing informed and valued citizens who have a deep respect for self and others.
NJROTC does not result in any obligation to enlist in the military. The program benefits your son or daughter through personal growth and development that will make them a better, informed and more responsible citizen. All cadets gain leadership experience and as they develop and demonstrate their skills they have the opportunity to increased responsibility and leadership positions.
All cadets will be issued and required to wear the Navy JROTC uniform one day a week on either Wednesday or Thursday, depending on what day their class falls on. You will be able to determine that day each week by checking the unit calendar. They either attend class on a A-day or B-day. Wearing the uniform is a NJROTC requirement agreed upon by the U.S. Navy and Baltimore County Public Schools. While uniforms are issued free of charge and must be worn on scheduled uniform day, there will be a $15 administrative fee charged to each cadet. In return, cadets will receive PT gear to be used on physical training day which is held on Friday's. Please see the instructions below to make payment online. If this presents a hardship please contact the Senior Naval Science Instructor so arrangements can be made. If your child is unwilling to comply with military uniform and grooming standards, he/she should inform you and you along with your child should contact guidance for withdraw from NJROTC. Guidance will contact the NJROTC instructors. Failure to do so will result in a failing grade.
Your child will be bringing home a information packet the first week of school. In that packet will be forms that you must read, sign and return to the NJROTC office. The packet will consist of a Welcome Letter, Health Risk Screening Record form, Media-Photography Consent form, NJROTC Personal Data form, NJROTC Standard Release Form, and a Baltimore County School Physical Form. These signed forms must be returned before your child can participate in any off campus NJROTC activities. The forms are also listed in this section so that you can download and print them should you need to.
Uniforms will be issued within the first three weeks of school and a custody card will be sent home to you for signature accepting responsibility for the uniform. We thank you for your support of the Dundalk High School NJROTC program and look forward to working together to ensure your child's success.
Please feel free to contact us should you have any questions or concerns.
