Students from a wide variety of backgrounds come together to learn at Lincoln Elementary, with this in mind there are multiple approaches to teaching and many ways the lessons and projects offer differentiation.
While assignments and projects will have deadlines, there are also opportunities to speak with the teacher to adjust the timeline. Additionally, if a student wants to alter an assignment, for example, changing a writing assignment to a Google Slide presentation or an oral presentation to an Adobe Spark video, all they need to do is present their idea to the teacher, determine the ways it will meet the expectations and then set a time to present their project to the teacher or to the class.
The Moby max math program and our writing in both Blogger and Tween Tribune is leveled for varying reading levels. Thishelps support students at the place they are and customizes homework. If a student needs support, Moby max reteaches skills, conversely, if a student excels, the program will allow them to advance into the next grade level. Check out the Homework Page in the Policies section to read more about Moby Max.
Large projects will have various levels of completion from minimum to extra credit. It is a collaboration between the teacher and the student as to what level the student will need to meet the expectation.
Our focus in the classroom is on the learning. With this in mind and knowing that there are few holiday celebrations in public middle school, any holiday celebrations that the class would like will be parent or student generated. Special treats for a birthday or holiday will be shared with all students who would like to participate during the last 15 minutes of the day, on the lawn, outside the classroom. Please let me know in advance so I am sure to manage our time.
If there is a specific religion or practice that I need to be aware of for dietary or cultural reasons, please let me know and we will determine the best ways to meet those needs.
