There are many ways you can help your child

be more successful at school.

Read, read, read! (Can I say it again?) READ!

Not only should every student be reading at least 30 minutes a day, but if students see their parent or family members reading regularly, they are more likely to express and interest and be willing to read as well

Students do not have to be reading alone! They can read to a younger sibling or to an aging grandparent.
Your child should listen to you read for intonation, fluency and inflection.
Have your child read aloud to you and then talk about what they have read. Be interested in what they are learning!

Teach GRIT!

Anything worthwhile takes time, patience and practice! A student CAN learn the math, they just have to persevere over the challenges.

If you tell them to quit because it is hard, what are we really teaching them?

For many students, schoolwork can be a struggle.

Please, do not tell your child they don't have to complete their work because the work is hard,

Teach them to be resilient.

Students need to develop a GROWTH MINDSET. This is a way of thinking, and understanding that their learning and achievement is not fixed but growing and changing. Students can learn but they have to believe it and be persistent.

Remind students that they should try their best to NOT look at the keyboard but to work towards looking at the screen and knowing where the keys are.
