FieldTrips!

The opportunity to move outside the boundaries of the school

and have a unique learning opportunity can be life changing.

Please return field trip forms promptly. If, by the day before a field trip your student has not yet returned their form I will have them phone and leave a message as a reminder to both the family and the student. If for any reason you do not want your student to participate in a field trip, please contact me so I can make arrangements for them here at school.

Each year the fifth graders participate in a 3 day outdoor education opportunity. We go the Catalina Island Marine Institute (C.I.M.I) to learn about oceanology, geography, marine life and our local natural resources. This is an amazing, once in a lifetime opportunity.

CIMI is an amazing opportunity for students to learn outside of the regular classroom. Lincoln Elementary prides itself on being one of the few remaining Ventura Unified schools to still support CIMI trips. The staff at Lincoln feels that CIMI is a valuable learning experience that every student will cherish for years to come.

As can be expected, we will need to have several fundraising events to raise the nearly $20,000 it takes for all of us to go on this amazing trip. We work together because the teachers and staff at Lincoln feel that this is such a wonderful learning and growing opportunity for our students. It is a team effort, we raise funds to help everyone.

No one is denied the trip for a lack of funds.

Parents who are interested in being chaperones to CIMI need to complete an application and plan to pay the full amount for the trip ($330.00). There are mandatory meetings prior to the trip.

For 2018, our CIMI dates are: March 21st, 22nd and 23rd.

Fourth graders participate in a full day of whale watching and hiking on Santa Cruz Island as well as many local trips to learn about the history of California and our community.
