Our First Day of School
Our day begins at 8:00 a.m and on the first day of school I will greet the students as they come in. Parents are welcome to join us for the first part of the day.

Our first three days of school (Wednesday, Thursday and Friday) will be reviewing of classroom expectations and policies.
Homework will start for students on September 5th (following Labor Day) as will after school hours 2:30 - 3:30 in Room 6 (our new computer lab)
There will be a project on the board for students to begin.
8:00 - 8:20
- As students enter the room they will find their name at one of the desks. The supplies I provide to the class are also on each desk. They will begin with coloring their nameplate.
- They will begin a letter to me answering the prompts on the board. (There is also a format for the letter.)
- We will do an extended introduction with attendance and lunch count.
8:20 - 9:00
- We will watch the Google Slide Presentation of the classroom policies. (This is also available for you to see now, go to Welcome to Room 14 )
- Classroom tour, the basics of our day to day activities.
9:05 - 9:40
- There is a presentation in the cafeteria welcoming the students and hearing about school rules and policies from our principal, Rob Lewis.
9:40 - 10:10
- Playground rules will be reviewed as we make our way back to class.
10:10 - 10:30 - Snack break and recess
10:30 - 11:30
- I will meet students at the red line before coming into the courtyard area.
- We will learn where to gather for other transitions and firedrills
- We will review snack break, recess and restroom policies
- Back in class we will discuss the differences between "democracy" and "dictatorships"
- We will discuss homework policies
11:30 - 12:00
- Students will complete their letter to me and I will write one for the class.
- Students will be given the opportunity to ask me questions
12:00 - 12:15
- School tour, meet the Cafeteria Staff, Janitors, Health Technician, Office Manager, Counselor and Psychologist
- Review where to line up for lunch and lunch room policies.
- We will practice silently walking along the corridor to the cafeteria.
12:15 - 1:00 - Lunch
1:00 - 2:00
- We will review the packet going home, forms, supply lists and parent letter.
- I will read all the information to the students and answer any questions they may have.
- I will distribute my contact information
- We will look at the class website and calendar
2:00 - 2:30
- We will have a question and answer time.
- Clean up, organize and discuss dismissal routines
