A risk register is a document that is drawn up in the preliminary stages and is used as a tool to manage and mitigate all potential risks throughout the construction phase of the project. This is a key document which allows for the minimisation of risk whilst on site. It will be made sure that all stakeholders are given a copy of the risk register below before any work commence.
A matrix is shown below which is used to assess and prioritise different risks based on the likelihood of them occurring, outlining the impact this would have on the individual and also the impact on a given project.
As demonstrated in the image this is a 6-step easy to follow risk management process that is used on construction sites to ensure that any threat posed by risk is easily dealt with, whilst minimising any possible danger that could arise on site.
As the building project progresses, the risk exposure varies, necessitating continual risk management. As the design advances, more project needs are identified, and a risk response may be developed.
Some risk reduction measures should be used in the building project to prevent risk.
