Field School Structure
Timing
Most field schools take place during the spring semester. Currently MRU also has some field schools that take place during the winter semester.
Field schools are generally 2 - 4 weeks in duration.
Format
Most field schools will include on-campus class time, coursework and preparations prior to departure for the international location.
Although each field school is structured differently, an example of a typical spring semester field school program may include a week of intense on-campus lectures, learning and preparations followed by 2 - 4 weeks in the field at the specified international location(s) with a final project due following the close of the field school.
Some field school programs will end while abroad while others will require participants to return to Mount Royal following the international travel component to complete additional course work. Participants must ensure they are available for the entire duration of their specific field school.
