Learning Intentions Unite 5 - "Bon week-end"
1. Speaking. Can you talk about at least 6 things you do at the weekend? You are to use different verbs as much as possible, at least 1 linking word, and at least 2 times at which you do some of the activities. You will be rewarded for being expressive and imaginative and trying to use more complicated expressions. Minimum standard: that you use understandable French.
2. Listening. Can you tell where someone is going? You will hear five sentences and are to identify the place mentioned. Minimum standard: at least 3 places correctly chosen.
3. Listening. Can you listen to and understand what people are doing? You will hear 10 sentences in French about what someone is doing and you are to choose the letter of the picture which illustrates that activity. Min standard: 7 sentences correctly understood.
4. Reading. Can you read and understand the French on pp. 52-54? You will be given a passage with 10 words missing. 12 words will be listed below of which 2 go nowhere. Choose the best word for each gap. Minimum standard: 7 correct words.
5. Reading. Can you read and understand a passage of French? You will be given a passage of French and are to answer in English the questions that follow. Minimum standard: 3 out of 5 questions are answered correctly.
6. Reading. Can you read and understand expressions in French? You will be given words or expressions in French and you are to match them up with definitions or synonyms also in French. Minimum standard: 7 definitions correctly chosen.
7. Writing. Can you write about 8 things you do on a busy weekend (PRESENT tense), and about 1 or 2 things you do not do. Minimum standard: 8 sentences in understandable and generally accurate French. Use linking words and adjectives.
8. Monuments of Paris. Can you write key facts about any three of the most important tourist attractions in Paris? You will need to write about 5 to 8 key facts on EACH monument.
