Learning Intentions - Unité 1 - "Salut, bonjour, bonsoir"

1. Can you greet someone, introduce yourself, spell your name in French, and ask someone what their name is? The teacher will play the role of the other person you are speaking to. Minimum standard: that you use understandable French.

2. Can you listen to and understand expressions in French. You will listen to some expressions and classroom instructions in French and choose the picture that best illustrates what is said. Minimum standard: 7 out of 10 correctly chosen.

3. Can you read and understand the French on pages 1 & 2? You will be given a passage of French with 10 words and/or letters missing. 15 words and letters will be given below. You are to choose the correct word or letter for each gap. Minimum standard: 7 out of 10 correctly chosen.

4. Can you write about yourself in simple French and greet and answer people? You will be given a dialogue to complete with some instructions in English (directed dialogue). Minimum standard: that the French makes sense and is accurate.

5. Can you explain items of French culture? You will be given some French words to explain in English taken from page 9. You may also be given other general knowledge questions about France. You will need to know the Numbers 1 - 10. Minimum standard: 7 out of 10 questions correctly answered.

6. La Francophonie – The French Speaking World. Can you name different regions/countries in the world where French is spoken?
