Wheeler Community,Â
We have had a fantastic first week of school! It has been so exciting to see the enthusiasm that our students are bringing to school each day.Â
I wanted to share with you that this afternoon, we held our Fall Safety Day where all students practiced our Safety Drills: Shelter in Place, Hold, Lockout, Lock Down, Building Evacuation, and Reverse Evacuation. We never anticipate an emergency, but having students know what to do in the event of one is a very important thing. I am proud of our students for following adult expectations during these drills!
In the next two weeks, students will take their Fall MAP Tests in Reading and Math. These benchmark assessments allow for our teachers and staff to meet kids where they are at academically and to determine next steps - see the schedule below. How can you help? A great night of sleep and a breakfast allows students to be at their best! We ae excited for students to "show what they know"!
Mr. Greg Wunderlich
Principal
Please ensure your child has a great night of sleep and breakfast to perform their best. This is not a graded assessment, but rather a benchmarking that MIllard uses to track Growth & Achievement. We want to make sure families know when their child is scheduled to test! See the schedule below
Wheeler Global Calendar
We will update this as much as possible to make folks aware of events and details throughout the year. Add this to your own calendar through this linkÂ
Similar to last year, we will have a virtual Curriculum Night. This is an excellent chance for you to engage in your child's education and receive critical information that will benefit your student's learning throughout the school year. Teachers will provide information on the curriculum, expectations, goals for the school year, classroom schedule, new grading policies, and more!Â
You can expect this information through email on Wednesday, August 27th, at 4:00 PM. If you have any questions after reviewing the information, please contact your classroom teacher.
We love having visitors and partnering with parents, grandparents, and community volunteers! Please refer to the following district policies as a refresher for the new school year.
