Wheeler Community,
We have had an outstanding week here at Wheeler! Students and staff have loved celebrating Read Across America week with all sorts of fun activities, presenters, and opportunities this week! Huge shout out to Miss Timmons for her work with Read Across America Week & One School, One Book! We also loved seeing all of the families who had Conferences last night; we are looking forward to seeing everyone else on Tuesday night! It is not too late to sign up...reach out to your classroom teacher, the front office, or Mr. Wunderlich if you have not yet signed up! We value that partnership so much and appreciate the time spent discussing your students.
Remember, due to conferences there will be no school on Thursday March 12th, Friday March 13th, and Monday March 16th. The next Growler will be sent out March 20th!
Have a great weekend!
Mr. Greg Wunderlich
Principal

We want to congratulate Mrs. Chapman (2nd grade) as she enters the last quarter of her teaching career before she retires. Mrs. Chapman has taught for 38 years. She has made an undeniable impact over the course of her career and we will miss her dearly! No one brings the joy to school as a teammate and model for students like Mrs. Chapman
Mr. Larsen (5th grade) will be leaving Wheeler and staying in Millard, accepting a 6th grade Reading teacher position at Russell Middle School for next year. Mr. Larsen will continue to make a huge difference in Millard and we will miss him very much!
Mrs. Halligan (Special Education Teacher) is transitioning to Elkhorn Public Schools as a middle school Special Education Teacher next year. Mrs. Halligan's husband also teaches in Elkhorn Public Schools, and the alignment of their calendar will make for a much easier time for their young family!
With our next year's 4th grade going down from 5 classrooms to 4, Mrs. Velazco-Zornes will slide over into the Special Education role! Mrs. V-Z has her special education endorsement and actually student taught special education here at Wheeler 3 school years ago! She will be outstanding!
Mrs. Thompson (5th) will be staying at Wheeler and moving from 5th grade to 2nd grade! Mrs. Thompson has many years of experience in teaching primary grade levels and will bring an excellent perspective to the 2nd grade team next school year! Charlie Brown is looking forward to being upstairs!
We hope your family is enjoying diving into our One School, One Book selection, The Smartest Kid in the Universe, as much as we are! There is something truly special about knowing that every student, teacher, and family in our community is turnignthe same pages at the same time. Whether you're reading together before bed or chatting about the latest chapter over dinner, we hope this book is sparking some great conversations and a little extra magic in your home. On Wednesday, students brought home a book and packet, take a look below at digital copies of those items and don't forget to check out our One School, One Book website! 🧠🌟📚 https://sites.google.com/mpsomaha.org/oneschoolonebook/home
We are just a couple of weeks away from Read Across America Week! 🌟 Starting March 2nd we will be celebrating the joy and power of reading books. This year's theme is "The Great Reading Expedition"! Since we're working on building a love and excitement for reading we will have a week full of reading activities at school. To make our expedition even more fun, students can dress up to match the theme each day!
