Wheeler Community,
I just want to say how much I appreciate our Wheeler community as we have come together this week to support one another, and the Dabo family, through the devastating loss our community has experienced. I appreciate that so many families have reached out in how they can help, support, etc. I want to thank the PTA for connecting with Jimmy Johns to provide our teachers with a Wednesday pick me up. I am so unbelievably proud to be part of the Wheeler family and have seen first hand how we have come together to support one another, mourn together, and put other people first - especially our students. Truly - thank you.

Wheeler will begin the process of creating class lists for the 2026-2027 school year. When we create class lists, our primary objective is to provide positive experiences for all students. We work to create balanced classrooms that address different personalities, abilities, special needs, learning styles, peer relations and balance boys, girls, etc.
Our school team (teachers, admin, specialists, counselors, interventionists, etc.) spends a great deal of time creating class lists. The teachers know the children in the school environment and have unique insights into their social, emotional, behavioral and academic needs. In short, we feel we have a strong system in place for determining placements.
While we DO NOT accept specific teacher requests by name - we do want to provide parents with an opportunity to communicate any special needs and considerations. Please do not feel obligated to send us information unless you feel it will enhance our ability to make the best placement for your child.
However, if you do choose to offer input please do so by sending Mrs. Kochsmeier an email (kmkochsmeier@mpsomaha.org) by February 27th stating the requested considerations. Administration will then review the information and send available dates/times of meeting options (if needed) prior to the beginning of March. We will ask for your time to meet during our Parent/Teacher Conferences in early March.
Adding Funds to Lunch Accounts:
Send cash or a check payable to Wheeler Elementary School
Be sure to include your child's name and "Lunch Money" in the memo of your check.

Kindergarten: 12:00-12:20
First Grade: 11:35-11:55
Second Grade: 12:30-12:50
Lunch Schedule:
Third Grade: 11:30-11:50
Fourth Grade: 12:35-12:55
Fifth Grade: 12:05-12:25
