Wheeler Community,
We are gearing up for an amazing school year! Our building has been closed for construction, but has now officially been opened up for our teachers to come in and prepare for the coming school year. Wheeler now has a brand new fire alarm system and also a secure vestibule that will keep our students and staff safe. ALL visitors will be forced to enter the office immediately, and then will not be able to enter the building without a staff member unlocking the door. We know this is an adjustment, but the safety of our kids makes it all worth it.
Please note that our Open House is Thursday, August 7th and teachers will email their families on August 6th to welcome you to their class. There is more detailed information below regarding Open House - but we are so excited to Welcome back our Wildcats and start the journey of the 25-26 school year where we will continue to Build Bright Futures!
Mr. Greg Wunderlich
Principal
We are asking that you plan to attend the following time slots by the first letter of your last name. This is recommended, but not required if it doesn't work for your schedule. On Tuesday, 8/12 only students will be entering the building, so if they need assistance, please plan to bring school supplies to Open House. This not only helps with parking, it allows better opportunities for teachers to welcome students and families.
Recommended Staggered Open House Schedule
5:00-5:30PM- Families A-F
5:30-6:00PM- Families G-O
6:00-6:30PM- Families P-Z
*Walk around the building and meet teachers
*Explore classroom volunteer opportunities
*Drop off any medication that will be given at school
*Drop off lunch money (cash or check only)
Or, fund your student’s lunch account by visiting myschoolbucks.com.
*Explore opportunities at the front of the building: Wheeler PTA, Boy Scouts, and more!
Helpful Hints for Open House:
* If you purchase the suggested school supplies, please bring them to Open House.
* Do introduce yourself to the teachers; they enjoy putting a face with the name.
*If you cannot make it to Open House, feel free to send your child with their school supplies on the first day of school.

Someone else picking up? Please call the office to notify and that adult will have to show ID to confirm who we are releasing student to.
Please take time to familiarize yourself with Millard's and Wheeler's Parent/Student Handbooks. The Code of Conduct is also linked below.
Medication is given at school only when necessary. All unexpired medication (prescription or non-prescription) must be brought to school by an adult in the original container. Do not send medication with a student or in their backpack. A current medication card must be on file in the health room for any medication to be given to students at school. You can complete this process during Open House in the office.
Please see the traffic flow linked. We are among the largest elementary schools in Millard and we can help support successful arrival and dismissal by following this traffic flow.
Safety is always the most important- it's our #1 rule! We take special care during peak times in the morning and afternoon to ensure everyone's safety. The first few days back at school are always a little more hectic. We will have a lot of staff members outside to assist with traffic flow and safety. We appreciate your patience, cooperation, and respect in advance. Please follow the listed safety guidelines whenever children are dropped off or picked up at school.
Observe all posted signage related to traffic.
Always remain in your car when dropping off/picking up your child(ren) along the curbs. Staff members will be available to assist your children in exiting or entering a vehicle.
Children should exit/enter cars only through the curbside door.
Please observe arrival and dismissal times.
Having your child at school on time is important, as classes start promptly at 8:30.
Dismissal time is also essential as staff members have additional responsibilities at the end of each school day. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday dismissal is at 3:30, and Wednesdays, we dismiss at 2:30.
Please go to Millard Public Schools Food Service website for the menu. The site can also help you to learn more about My School Bucks for depositing money in your child’s lunch account and/or to find the application for FREE AND REDUCED LUNCH.
If your child will be eating breakfast at school, we ask that they please arrive between 8:15 - 8:25 so they can eat breakfast and start the school day on time at 8:30.
