General Rules
Students at Mougins School are required to wear a uniform when they are at school and at school events.
Uniform rules apply to students from Year 1 to Year 11. Dress Code expectations apply to all students including Sixth Form
All clothing must be in good condition, fit properly, and be labelled with the student's name.
Our students will be required to wear the Mougins School uniform on their ‘top half’ and a sports kit for all PE classes.
Families can mix and match between the polo shirt or the shirt, and for colder weather they can add the hoodie or the jumper.
For any events or school trips (unless otherwise notified), uniform will also be obligatory.
In adherence to the French Government's guidelines for public middle and high schools, the display of symbols or clothing that overtly indicates a religious affiliation is not allowed.
Aims and Objectives
Our international school uniform policy is based on the notion that a school uniform:
Promotes a sense of pride in the school
Generates a sense of community and belonging towards the school
Is practical, smart, and easy to manage/prepare for the day
Identifies students with the school
Prevents students from coming to our international school in fashionable clothes that could prove distracting in class
Makes students feel equal to their peers in terms of appearance
Is regarded as suitable wear for school
Is designed with health and safety in mind
Supports a professional learning environment
Maintains modesty and respect
The role of parents/children in meeting Dress code and uniform expectations
The international school believes that parents have a duty to send their children to school correctly dressed and ready for the school day. Parents and guardians are responsible for ensuring that their child(ren) comply with this policy. There will be no exceptions.
In addition to ensuring that your child is wearing their Mougins school uniform top(s), please ensure that your child adheres to the dress code of wearing shorts, trousers or a skirt (and tops for Sixth form students) that are appropriate for the school environment and maintains modesty and respect. This means that undergarments should not be visible and that significant areas of skin (such as midriffs, upper thighs, thighs and cleavage) are adequately covered when a student is sitting, standing or engaging in typical school activities. This promotes an environment focused on learning rather than appearance. This includes Sixth form.
Clothing should support a professional learning environment, meaning it should be suitable for an academic setting, distinct from leisure wear, beachwear or sleepwear. It reflects a readiness for learning and respect for oneself and others within the school community.
The role of teachers and staff
Teachers and staff assist in enforcing the Mougins Uniform Policy and dress code. Staff and teachers retain the right to refuse students into their classrooms who do not comply with the uniform policy.
Acquiring school uniforms
The school and sports uniforms must be purchased from the international school supplier by the parents before the start of the school year.
Students who do not come to school in the expected uniform or inappropriate clothing will not be admitted to lessons. Parents will be contacted and asked to bring the correct uniform into school or to collect their child.
Students who do not have the correct PE uniform will not be permitted to take part in PE lessons.
Repeated infringements will be regarded as being against our behaviour policy and will be treated as stated on that policy under the community
All students may choose their own trousers/shorts/skirt as long as they are appropriate for the school setting.
*Please note that photos are non contractual and the final uniform may differ slightly.
