We are fortunate to have a number of visiting teachers coming to Mougins School with specialist skills and can therefore offer instrumental tuition on a range of instruments as well as singing lessons. We do encourage children to consider orchestral instruments as their first study enabling them to play in ensembles and groups. Please sign-up for instrumental and vocal lessons by clicking on the link on the last page of the music pamphlet. We encourage parents to read through the information carefully, as there are several changes to lesson times and payments this year.

Fausto Maccario began studying Classical Percussion at age 6 and Jazz Drum Set at age 14 at the Jazz Conservatory in Monaco. He earned a Bachelor's Degree in Contemporary Writing and Production from Berklee College of Music in 2013, where he studied with renowned drummers like Kenwood Dennard, Tony “Thunder” Smith, and Neal Smith. Fausto is an accomplished drummer in both the United States and Europe, as well as a Composer, Arranger, and Producer. His work spans from scoring short films showcased at the Cannes Film Festival to arranging and directing Big Bands and Orchestras in recording studios. He also produces music for independent and major artists in France, the United States, and Denmark.
As an educator, Fausto emphasizes technique and helps students develop their unique drumset vocabulary. He also focuses on teaching students the drummer's role in live and studio settings, preparing them for professional careers in the music industry.
“I like to constantly challenge my students and pull the best out of them. To me it is essential that every musician understands the vocabulary and the history of the music one listens to. I expect musicians to acknowledge and carry the tradition they conform to while gaining enough maturity in their learning process to find their own way of expression. Being a great drummer is one thing, but being able to deeply understand the music, the historical context, as well as the music industry is what makes the difference in the professional world.”
Frédéric DUPOUY: With a diverse background ranging from music to education, and entrepreneurship, Frédéric brings a wealth of experience to Mougins School.
His artistic journey began with a foundational education in music, starting at the Toulouse Conservatoire, where he obtained his diploma. He then continued his studies in Bordeaux, where he had the privilege of working with several influential mentors. Among them were an expert in posture and a specialist focused on the psychological aspects of musical performance. These experiences deeply shaped his approach to music and inspired him to pursue a career as a music educator. For eight years, he honed his skills in these areas, striving to blend technical proficiency with psychological insight in his teaching.
Driven by a desire to expand his horizons, he eventually transitioned into the field of sustainable development. He founded Corekap, a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) consultancy based in Sophia Antipolis. This venture allowed him to apply his expertise as a trainer, mediator, and manager, broadening his professional scope and deepening his understanding of organizational dynamics.
His two passions—music and sustainable development—converged when he assumed the role of director at a conservatory in the Paris region. In this capacity, he led numerous artistic projects and explored innovative approaches to music education. His diverse experiences equipped him to guide his students in developing their own artistic projects and enhancing their stage presence.
Driven by a strong pedagogical instinct, he felt a renewed desire to reconnect with students on a more personal level. This brought him to Mougins School, where he is thrilled to continue his journey, sharing his knowledge and passion for music with a new generation of students.
