NEW FAMILIES
Welcome to Mougins British International School
It is a great pleasure to welcome you to Mougins British International School. We are very much looking forward to welcoming your child(ren) to the campus and helping them to successfully transition into life at our school. Above anything else, it is essential that they feel welcomed, safe, secure and happy in these early days and weeks. This will provide the foundations for successful learning in the months and years to come.
It is important to us that we have everything ready to make the first day as smooth as possible. After all, it is often a nervous time for children and parents alike. Therefore, both the admissions and the academic team will be ensuring that everything is in place and ready for day one. On this page you will find details of orientation day and the first week. Please just scroll down to the sections that are relevant to you.
You can navigate the wider Parent Room website to find much more information about school life. We have slimmed the site down for this first communication to allow you to focus on some important areas.
At this time I would like to draw your attention to our school values. These are posted below. These values are truly lived at our school and we expect students, staff and parents to uphold them. They define the way we should act and communicate and are always a rich topic for discussion.
I greatly look forward to seeing you at our orientation afternoon at 2pm on the 2nd Sepetember
James Wellings

Welcome to the Primary School (Year 1 - Year 6)
We warmly welcome our new students and look forward to doing everything we can to make this a successful, positive, fun filled year of learning for you all.
It is important to us that we recognise every student as an individual who brings a unique combination of experience, attitude and abilities. Our passion and focus is to provide a nurturing environment that begins the journey towards a love of lifelong learning. We delight in seeing our children excited about coming to school and participating in all that is on offer. We pride ourselves on building a community that promotes the importance of a strong relationship triangle of student, teacher and parent. Our dedicated and committed staff are genuinely looking forward to working with you and your children.
Our learning is based upon the British curriculum and we expertly combine this with an international awareness to provide wonderful, inquiry based experiences to enhance the learning throughout the Primary School. Staff work hard to integrate children into a British school with a global perspective so that they can access the broader world. This also allows the teachers to comfortably assess the children based on the global standards to aid with transitions to other international establishments. We celebrate all cultures, modelling a celebration of different backgrounds and learning about the world.
As we begin this new year, we will focus on our school values of Respect, Integrity, Learning and Community. The journey towards us all understanding these and making them an integral part of our school ethos begins here in the Primary, where we are committed to these values being a vibrant part of our everyday work and play.
We look forward to seeing you and having a wonderful year together.
Mrs Christine Bearman
Head of Primary School

Welcome to the Secondary School (Year 7 - Year 13)
Welcome to the Secondary School.
Starting a new school, in any age group, can be a daunting prospect. Almost everything can seem different. Faces and places, systems and sounds.
One of the remarkable things about our school is that usually, by about day 2 or 3, new students are almost indistinguishable from students who have been here for many years.
This is largely due to the inclusive nature of our school culture in which we are reminded that everyone was new once and the desire to empathise, reach out, involve, and engage with new students truly matters.
Secondary School life inevitably involves plenty of movement from class to class throughout the day and with that comes a good deal of mixing. New teachers will be excited to meet you and, importantly, to learn what you can bring to the table.
We ask that students do their best at all times and they'll hear us talk a lot about our values: respect, integrity, community, and learning.
If there is a need for any additional support or information, we are here for you.
Myself, Mrs Michael (Head of Pastoral and Safeguarding), Mrs Ayerst (Head of Academics), Mrs Michael (Head of Key Stage 4) and Mr Andrews (Head of Key Stage 3), and your teachers and form teachers will be able to help.
I look forward to meeting you all on Friday ahead of what will be, I am sure, a wonderful start to the your new school year.
Mr Paul Michael
Head of Secondary School

GENERAL FAQs
During PE lessons students must wear Mougins School sportswear in the form of the new sports uniform. Students who are not wearing the correct sports clothing will not take part in the lesson (unless waiting for orders to arrive in September)
Students must come into school clearly wearing a Mougins School top. This must be the primary clothing item and should not be covered by other clothing items.
If we do not feel that a student is dressed appropriately, we will contact the students' parents and we may ask for appropriate clothing to be brought in or for them to be collected.
If you have enrolled to eat in the cafeteria, Primary students will be shown by their teacher how it works and what to do everyday. Secondary students will find their cards in the card holder which is by the entrance to the cafeteria. This will be explained and shown to you on your first day.
If you are not enrolled to eat in the cafeteria, you can still eat your home packed lunch in the cafeteria either inside or outside on the terrace. Otherwise, anywhere else outside on the school campus, and not in classrooms, for secondary students.
No Food Delivery in School
We will not accept (or allow any child to accept) any food deliveries in school - either from parents or food delivery services. If your child is not enrolled to eat the school lunches, please make sure they bring their packed lunch with them to school in the morning.

Snacks & Drinks - Secondary students can buy snacks and drinks in the cafeteria but only at break time. Please remember to bring small change with you if you wish to purchase something.
