WARNING: The video includes images of swearing and images of drug use that some students may find difficult to watch.
After watching the clip encourage students to share their ideas with the person next to them and then discuss as a class using the following prompt questions:
How are people experiencing homelessness portrayed in the opening clip?
Which pieces of information did you find interesting?
Do you think anything in the opening clip is misleading?
Statistics are often sources of information that are presented to show a certain point of view and can often be seen as misleading. Look through the presentation below. In groups, interpret your graph and annotate your ideas. Each graph has a prompt question that can be used to help guide your discussion. This is an opportunity to look closely at how a graph presents information and how information can be misinterpreted or misleading.
Share your ideas and thoughts on the misleading graphs with those around you.
