Artist’s Statement: My artwork shows an adorable and happy panda, which is our school’s mascot. The panda stands in front of a rainbow-coloured background and small drawings at the side to give it a more positive vibe. The joyful mood of this artwork reminds me of the vibrant life in NHPS. I enjoyed exploring different brushes and features in Procreate to make this artwork.

Artist’s Statement: In my artwork, I have brought together our school mascot, Xiao Nan and Da Hua, along with our school's iconic Chinese structure of a scholar's hat. This composition holds significant meaning as it symbolizes the values of hard work, dedication, and perseverance required to complete one's studies.
As I delved into the world of digital art using Procreate on my personal iPad, I discovered the joy of exploring its capabilities. Learning and experimenting with Procreate has been an exhilarating experience, allowing me to unlock new techniques and possibilities for my artwork. I am eager to continue expanding my knowledge and skills in order to incorporate these techniques into future projects.

Friendship and Kindness

Artist’s Statement: I drew these students as they represent my friends and I am having fun. I wanted to display friendship and kindness. I found the experience interesting but very hard. I would prefer to the artwork on paper. Because, on paper when we use pencil, we can do a blurry effect and smudging effect easier than on Procreate. I would prefer to use the rough copy of my artwork for the student diary. The teachers taught me tips and tricks to make my artwork look nice. My teacher also gave me encouragement.

Artist’s Statement: I got my inspiration from the quote by Norman Vincent Peale, "Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll land among the stars." I found this quote very meaningful because the main point is about positive possibility. I learned that it is important to strive high and aim big. The mountain in my artwork symbolises the challenges we face in life.

Artist’s Statement: My artwork revolves around the theme of caring and providing support to those who need it. I am deeply inspired by the desire to uplift and cheer up friends during their difficult times or bad days. Through my art, I aim to convey the importance of being there for others, offering gifts, solace, or any gesture that can brighten their day.
I believe in the power of compassion and empathy, and I want my artwork to serve as a reminder that small acts of kindness can have a significant impact on someone's well-being. By visually representing these acts of care and support, I hope to encourage others to cultivate a nurturing and considerate mindset in their own lives.

The Symbols of Nan Hua

Artist’s Statement: When I was asked to draw an artwork that would represent Nan Hua, I immediately thought of a panda which is Nan Hua's mascot. Besides the school crest and the school motto, I added some bamboo and Koi to represent us as the SAP school. The pair of Koi fish swimming around the panda in a circle to indicate that Nan Hua is surrounded by good luck and blessings.

Artist’s Statement: My artwork displays the school bell with the school mascot. Heritage is the sum up of our memories, experiences, records, artefacts and traditions that we have inherited from our past. Just like the bell that was retrieved and displayed during the 105th School Anniversary. It has been passed down from generation to generation. May the school continues to flourish and instil the right values to our next generation.

Artist’s Statement: When I was told to design an artwork that would represent Nan Hua, I thought about our school motto "忠孝仁爱礼义廉耻". My artwork shows a panda (Nan Hua's mascot) at the top of a snowcapped mountain. The panda braved through the coldness and overcame the obstacles throughout the course of the climb and eventually made it to the peak. There, he was greeted by a stunning view of the Universe and tasted the sense of achievement.

An Important Character Strength

Artist’s Statement: I got my inspiration from a video which talks about character strengths. It was about a man walking along the seaside and a quote about resilience. I decided to replace the man with our school mascot which is a panda, and turned the beach into a running track.
In my artwork, it shows that the panda pulled through the entire race and eventually made it to the finishing line. In life, we may face obstacles during the course of our learning, however, as long as we embrace the challenges and keep our spirits high, we will be able to taste the fruits of our hard work.

Artist’s Statement: We learnt 24 character strengths in our school. I thought that one of the character strengths that pupils of Nan Hua needed to work on the most is Kindness. I added little acts of kindness inside some of the hearts so that we can carry out our own acts of kindness to the people around us.
