The Environmental Club - Weekly Recycling
“Arrange the papers neatly!”, “Tie them up into bundles, neatly!” and “Bundle the papers such that we can carry them down.” These are some of the conversations one may overhear on Fridays when our Class Environmental Champions help to tie up the newspapers to be sent to the recycling corners in Xingnan Primary School. The Primary 1 and 2 pupils usually bring papers from home. However, pupils recycle papers that they use for their Tuesday Reading programme after they have completed the reading activity. Instead of throwing them away, the school has come together to put them into the recycling bins available in the school!

Our pupils from the P1 to P6 classes look forward to send their newspapers weekly on Fridays for recycling. Pupils gather, bundle the newspapers neatly and tie them up with raffia and bring them down to our recycling corner. Parent volunteers and teachers assist these pupils and encourage classes that recycle by pasting stickers on the recycle charts. Thus, the recycling also adds points to the Model Class Awards. This whole school approach ensures that everyone contributes in one way or other to reduce the wastage and also ensure recycling of papers.
