The Environmental Club - ‘Love your Food’ Campaign 2017
On 21 April 2017, Xingnan Primary School embarked on the “Love Your Food Campaign” in line with Earth Day which falls on 22rd April. 1250 pupils from Primary 1 to 5 were even more cautious to not waste food as there was a briefing on the importance of finishing all the food on their plates early that week. Digital Display Screens showing pictures and posters to create awareness of food wastage in Singapore from that week onwards kept our school well informed of the campaign. The pupils also learnt about Food waste statistics and what happens to food after it is thrown into the bin. The “Love Your Food Campaign” aims to encourage pupils to adopt the daily eco habit of ordering only what they can finish and to demonstrate a collective ‘movement’ towards the positive behaviour of ‘Let’s not be wasteful’!

The highlight was the “Special Photo Booth” whereby pupils were encouraged to take pictures with their classmates and friends with their empty plates with a creative pose! Pupils swarmed to the booth as they knew they could clinch the tokens for the most creative photographs taken on this day!
