Our class trip to Singapore Mandai Zoo was a smooth sailing one if not for our parent volunteers. Not only was it wonderful to have extra pair of hands, eyes, and ears to help look after the students but their ability to keep the pupils all interested in the animals at the zoo. They also made sure that the pupils focused on the animal’s description at each enclosure.

As the pupils did their post activities, some shared on how the parent volunteers had shared some great information on the animals. It is only with parent volunteers that teachers are able to go beyond the books and classroom walls to show students that the subjects that we study and the topics that we discuss are all around us in the "real world."
