Encouraging Residents @ Nanyang Estate to Pledge to Keep Singapore Clean

As part of the efforts to grow the Keep Singapore Clean (KSC) Movement, one of the Public Hygiene Council's (PHC) key strategy is to empower groups and individuals to take the lead in driving initiatives that promote cleanliness and creating opportunities for people to take action to help keep Singapore clean. In collaboration with PHC, pupils from Primary 5F encouraged residents in the Nanyang Estate to pledge to keep our community spaces clean on 27 May 2017. As part of their pledge, residents took photographs using the frames created by the pupils from 5F! The pupils brought their own cameras to take the photographs.

The pupils from 5F were also engaged in the community litter-picking, together with the pupils from the Environmental Club. They did their litter picking activity at the common spaces outside Xingnan Primary School.

Through this activity, we aim to inculcate greater ownership of the environment, where everyone takes action and leads by example to keep our public spaces clean. We also wish to influence others to Keep Singapore Clean, reinforce the social norm on zero tolerance against littering and to garner support from the community for Keep Singapore Clean Movement.
