Twenty-one pupils, comprising of three representatives from each Primary 6 class, were briefed on the Kindness Project by Mrs Jessie Tan. She told us that in conjunction with celebrating the school’s 85th Anniversary, Primary 6 pupils would be roped in to kick-start a Kindness act. As such, our first task was to brainstorm for ideas. We hit upon the idea of creating heart-shaped boxes to be filled with candies while surfing for ideas from the internet. We also decided that these boxes will then be given to pupils on Financial Assistance.
Our next task was to learn how to make these boxes. As soon as we got hold of the materials, we tried our hands in making them. Eventually, we learnt to make the boxes and the next step was to return to our individual classes to instruct our classmates. We faced challenges along the way but with the help and support from our wonderful teachers, we succeeded in making 256 heart-shaped boxes. After that, some pupils and teachers contributed candies and healthy snacks to fill them up.
On 7 and 8 November, two groups of pupils went around the school to distribute the gifts. As the gifts were given, we explained that it was an act of kindness from the Primary 6 pupils and teachers. Furthermore, we encouraged them to pay it forward. This means that if they have the chance, they should grab the opportunity to show kindness to others.
