The Medina Square; the highlight of our community, always has something going on. From the numerous events such as the Fall Festival, Ice Festival, and Candlelight Walk, to more permanent fixtures such as Cool Beans, Nibble, and Lemonberry, something is always happening.
Late summer and early fall is a time full of events at Medina Square. One big event was the Medina Fall Festival, which took place on the 16th of September. They had a wide array of activities for all ages, such as a corn maze, petting zoo, balloon animals, live music, and dozens of vendors who sold a wide array of goods.

We talked to Angela Mansier, the event coordinator for Main Street Medina, and she says that she was really excited to work with the new vendors and get the event up and running. When asked about how the year’s farmer’s market was going, she said, “It’s going great, it finally feels like we’re back up to our numbers prior to Covid with the number of guests, and we have more vendors who are getting interested.” She states that the farmers market really helps with the local shops that are placed on the square.

Events aren’t the only thing happening on the square either, with many more permanent members being staples of our community. Take Cool Beans, for example, a common after-school meet-up spot for friends. One of the highlights of the café is the weekly special menus, “We tend to have a weekly theme based on events that are happening at the time. For example, we had a Barbie-themed menu for when the movie came out. It’s just something fun to do.” Says Laura Cavey, the owner of Cool Beans. Each place on the square is able to be enjoyed in different ways whether you're eating, or shopping.
The square is even a favorite of those who simply like to visit, with some favorites being the gazebo, ice festival, PJ Marley’s, and Lemonberry. For example, when we asked Medina High School senior Olivia Clemontson what her favorite part of the square was, she said the gazebo. “It’s just so pretty, and it’s a really nice place to hang out with friends.” She also stated that her favorite things to do at the square are get food and window shop.
We took a survey asking people what their favorite things were about the square. When asked what their favorite place was, a majority said PJ Marley´s, followed closely by Lemonberry. All their reasonings were the same, chiefly that the food is great. Whether it is the burgers or frozen yogurt, people love the experience.

We also asked what their favorite event on the square was, and the majority came back with the ice festival. People love the experience of seeing the sculptures while enjoying spending time with friends or family.
The square is a fun place to hang out with friends and family after school/work or on the weekends. The square has something for everyone whether that be food, shops, or even events. Events are always happening which gives people the ability to hang out with the community and experience different things.
