Book Club is the perfect club for the readers of Medina High School. On two Thursdays a month, members gather to discuss the books they have been reading and create friendships. A meeting looks like this: the club members meet in the Zen Den after school under the guidance of Mr. Mohn, who Lilie Wodek says is “the best.” They take attendance and settle in. Then, the readers discuss the previous month’s book selection, including what they liked, disliked, and were affected by. If they haven’t finished the book, they snack and play games to get to know each other better. If they’ve finished the book, they end the meeting by voting for next month’s selection.
Previous book selections have included They Both Die at the End by Adam Silvera and The Firekeeper’s Daughter by Angeline Boulley. No matter what kind of reader you are, the club will accommodate your interests. As Jackson Routzahn says, “Reading is good for you and better than doing nothing.” The club got started on Thursday, the 14th of September, and has upcoming meetings on September 28, October 12, and October 29. Look for announcements from your language arts teacher or talk to Mr. Mohn in room 1218 about how to join and when!
