Buzz Cafe is a staple at our Medina High School. But what is the Buzz Cafe? Have you ever wondered where your money goes when you buy your coffee or a brownie? This article will explain any questions you have about the Buzz Cafe, and share some facts as well!
The Buzz Cafe is a hot spot for high school students, and it has been for the last 20 years. It began as a small school bookstore that sold novels, coffee, and pencils. In the past few years, it has evolved into the beloved cafe that we all know. The main focus of the Buzz Cafe isn’t the food and drinks, it is about the skills it is teaching the students who work there.
The students who work are taught vocational skills and communication skills that can better prepare them for their future. Mrs. Klingshrin said, "It is important for our students to get into the community to practice their skills in real-life situations¨."
The teachers who help with the Buzz Cafe focus on having their students experience what it would be like working at a real job, the goal is to have the students get enough experience for their journey after high school.
The money that is collected throughout the week is to buy products that they sell, and field trips for the students who take the time to contribute to the success of the Buzz Cafe. The people who make everything happen are from The Bowman House and Medina High School students, but the two most influential people are Mrs. Kearney and Mrs. Klingshirn. They make sure every Tuesday and Thursday that everything is running smoothly and going according to plan.
