General Information
Q. How long has The Medinamite been around?
The Medinamite was established in 1941. Spring of 2015 marked the beginning of the online edition. Spring of 2017 marked the return of the print edition. Due to COVID concerns in 2020-21, we adjusted to a new online edition through Google Sites. Print editions for special occasions may still occur.
Q. What can I expect to see on The Medinamite?
The website is a combination of journalistic stories, news updates, and entertainment centered around MHS culture.
Q. Who updates The Medinamite/ How often is The Medinamite updated?
MHS students make up the staff, and manage the content and layout of The Medinamite. At this time, The Medinamite is a work in progress, so updates will be made periodically. Check the X(Twitter) handle @MHSMedinamite for updates about new stories.
Writing Style
Q. Does The Medinamite follow MLA or AP style?
Overall, The Medinamite follows AP style (common guidelines used in news writing) and tries to remain consistent. Therefore certain grammar rules (such as capitalizing all nouns in a title, the use of the Oxford Comma, etc.) do not apply when writing in AP Style.

Q. How can I become involved in The Medinamite?
The Medinamite is a year-round after-school elective at MHS. Students are not required to register for the Media and Mass Communication class, but it helps! Students interested in journalism should also consider taking the Introduction to Journalism class.
Keep an eye out for contests throughout the year, such as a letter to the editor contest and a review contest. Readers can also contribute to polls posted weekly. Finally, readers may submit a letter to the editor to be published online; The Medinamite reserves the right to edit for length and clarity.
