Weekly Update - 9/15/23

Our first full week has been full of excitement and new beginnings.  We have welcomed over twenty new students to the Middle School in the past few weeks, bringing our student enrollment over 500 students.  While some of our new students are transferring in from other local schools, we have also welcomed many students from other countries, adding to the rich and diverse culture here at Maryvale.  Watching our students, faculty and staff welcome our new students and ensuring that they are safe and accepted makes me proud to be a Flyer!

Helping support our new students are several new positions that have been added in the Middle School over the summer.  We have added a hall monitor, a dean of students, two 6th grade teachers, four personal and classroom aides and shared teachers in the areas of special education and English as a new language.  

We have been screening and interviewing candidates to find the best fit for our school over the past several weeks to fill these positions, but we are not done yet.  We still have one more personal aide position to fill and are in constant need of substitute teachers and aides.  If you are interested in becoming part of our diverse team of professionals, check out our available positions under the “Job Opportunities” section of our website or click here.

With all these new faces, comes change to our daily operations.  We have had to adjust schedules for many students, especially in 6th grade and had to develop additional resources for our students, faculty and staff.  Please be patient and understanding if your student does receive a new schedule or sees students being entered or exited from their classes.  Our counselors are trying to create schedules for our new students with the least disruption possible.
