Weekly Update - 10/13/23

Five week progress reports have been published to the Student and Parent Portals.  Please take some time to review the progress report with your student.  These grades can impact student participation in the MAC and other clubs & activities.  Additionally, students must carry an overall average of 90 or above each marking period to be eligible for National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) at the end of their 7th grade year.

We will be creating our eligibility list for the MAC.  (The MAC, or Maryvale Activity Center, is place for students to play games and participate in activities during their studyhalls.)  Students who are failing two or more class, have received ISS and/or OSS, or have missed 3 or more days of school will not be eligible to go to the MAC for the next 5 weeks.  (Note: students who have a medical excuse for missing 3 or more days may still be eligible.  These situations will be addressed on a case by case basis.)

Clubs and intramurals are in full swing.  Below is a list of the clubs that are running and the teachers who will be running them.  Please check the Flyer News or ask the club advisor for meeting times and locations.

On a more serious and solemn note, there has been a tremendous amount of violence in Israel and the Gaza Strip, as well as many other areas around the world.  We acknowledge the effect that this violence may be having on some of our students and families, and will support them as they process what is happening.  We ask that you do the same.  There is a saying that is takes a village to raise a child and Maryvale is our "village".  We must act as a community... a family, and support each other, as we often have more similarities than differences.
