Weekly Update - 4/12/24

We welcomed students back from spring break this week.  Hopefully, some of our students were able to make good use of their eclipse glasses on Monday.   Mr. Krupinski is in the planetarium this week with our 8th graders, showing them some of the pictures he took while in Maine.  He has also done lessons in 7th grade on planetary motion, so many of our students have learned more details about the eclipse and why it is so special in our very own planetarium.

Third quarter grades close at the end of next week.  Please log into the Parent Portal and discuss your child's progress with them.  If they are missing assignments, work with them to create a plan to get the assignments turned in this coming week.

We will be convening a committee of administrator, teachers, students and parents to review our Code of Conduct later this month.  If you are interested in being on the committee, please email Mr. Frank at frank@maryvaleufsd.org.  The committee will meet once or twice in the next month and the meetings will be held virtually.

NYS Assessments

All students will be taking the NYS 3-8 assessments on their Chromebooks this year.   The dates for the middle school assessments are as follows,

ELA  - April 23rd and 24th

Science - May 3rd (8th grade only)

Math - May 9th and 10th

In preparation for the assessments, please be sure your child gets a good night's sleep, eats a healthy breakfast and has their Chromebook fully charged.  Also note that students must give their best effort on the NYS Assessments in order to be considered for exam exemptions.  Details concerning exam exemptions can be found below.
