Weekly Update - 11/17/23

Report Cards

Report cards for the first 10 weeks are available on the Student and Parent Portals.   Thank you for your patience as we worked out some technical issues.  You can also download the eSchool app!  Instructions on how to download and log into the eSchool Mobile App are below.

MAC Eligibility

Every 5 weeks we look at grades, attendance and discipline to determine the students' eligibility to go to the MAC during their study halls.  Study hall teachers will inform students if they are ineligible and why.  In the event that a student is ineligible, but thinks they should be excused, they should see Mr. Frank or Mr. Striker.  For example, it a student is ineligible because they missed 7 days of school, but 5 days were because they had COVID, they can ask Mr. Frank or Mr. Striker if they can be excused.

Arrival and Dismissal

Student drop off is in the rear of the building.  Some parents are dropping off students in the front of the building before school and is effecting our buses from safely and efficiently dropping off their students.  If you are dropping a student off between 7:25-8:15, be advised that the Intermediate buses are also dropping students off in the front of the building.  Note that you cannot pass the bus if the red lights on the school bus are flashing, even in the parking lot.

There have been similar issues for student pick-up.  Regular after school pickup is in the rear of the building.  If you are picking up your student from school early, please attempt to do so prior to 1:45 pm.  By 1:45, the buses begin to line up in front of the school for dismissal.  They line up in the same order every day in order to better assist students in finding their bus.

Athletes, Study Table and After School Activities

Starting Monday, November 20th, the Study Table will be available for any athlete who has a practice or game that does not start immediately after school.  Athletes are not to be wandering campus or the inside of the building.  They must either leave campus until their practice or game starts, or go to Study Table.  

Study Table takes place in the Middle School Cafeteria and allows for students to relax and/or get their homework done while waiting for practice to start.  Study Table is supervised and students must sign in as they enter the cafeteria.

Any student not staying with a teacher, attending a club or in Study Table is expected to leave campus at 2:15.   Due to the Intermediate School students still using the playground  and being in class, middle and high school students are not permitted to use the playground until after 3:00 pm.

Student Council Food Drive

The student council is hosting their annual canned and non perishable food drive going on until 12/6. Please consider donating to this great cause! The homeroom, per grade level that brings in the most donations will win a breakfast party on 12/8! 

8th Grade Washington D.C. Trip

We have filled the first bus!   We have a waiting list started and if we get enough students to sign up, we will charter a second bus once we hit our threshold.  If you want to be added to the waiting list, please contact Mrs. Phelps (phelps@maryvaleufsd.org) or Mrs. Cassidy (cassidy@maryvaleufsd.org).

Extracurriculars

Clubs and intramurals are in full swing.  Below is a list of the clubs that are running and the teachers who will be running them.  Please check the Flyer News or ask the club advisor for meeting times and locations.
