Weekly Update 10/31/25

Happy Halloween!

Students arrived at school dressed up and ready for fun, as did the teachers.  Mrs. Fowler and Mrs. Rohde planned several community-building activities for our students.  Activities included "would you rather..." questions, pumpkin carving/decorating, various physical activities in the gym and fitness center, card making for Veterans Day, videos and of course, a costume contest.

First Marking Period is Coming to an End

The first 9 weeks of school have flown by and that means that the first marking period will come to an end on Friday, 11/7.  Please be sure to login to your Parent or Student Portal to check your student's progress.  Students will only have until Friday to make up owed homework, quizzes and tests.

By the looks of grades so far, I think that we will be printing a lot of honor roll certificates.  We will also celebrate our students with exceptional attendance.

Get Involved

Registration for winter sports and auditions for the musical are starting up already.  Watch the Flyer News and check out the links below for more specific information on how students can get involved in fun, confidence boosting activities.

We also want our parents and guardians to get more involved.  We will be sending out more information on how parents and guardians can be more involved in specific activities.  Links to sign-up will be sent out in the coming weeks for opportunities to get involved.  That could mean chaperoning a particular events, donating snacks, setting up/cleaning up for various activities, etc.

Buffalo FBI Watch Group - The Dangers of Social Media: When Online Chats Turn into Manipulation or Violence Against Our Youth

FBI Buffalo Presents: Digital Dangers is a virtual presentation designed to inform parents, educators, and school communities about today’s most pressing online safety concerns and provide resources for parents and educators to use at home and in the classroom.

FBI Buffalo will focus on the dangers of our youth connecting with people online who they don’t know in person. For some kids, they’re influenced into sending an inappropriate photo to someone they think is a peer, soon realizing it’s someone threatening them for more photos – or money. For other kids, they’re unknowingly being befriended by violent online groups who are motivated by a desire to cause fear, chaos, and harm.

For this virtual presentation, FBI Buffalo invites schools in Western New York to host in-person Watch Groups where parents and educators from participating schools can view the presentation and be empowered to help prevent the children in their lives from becoming victims.

Maryvale will be hosting a watch group on Thursday, November 6th, 2025 from 6:00PM-8:00PM. (Please arrive by 5:30 as the presentation begins promptly at 6:00 PM)

There will be an opportunity for Q&A at the end of the presentation, and any additional questions or requests for more information can be addressed via email after the presentation.

**The content of this presentation includes frank discussions about sensitive topics, and it is geared toward parents and adults only; it is not intended for young children to be present

Please refer to the attached flyer, and RSVP to the Family Support Center by calling 716-631-7442 or emailing familysupportcenter@maryvaleufsd.org.
