Teacher professional development is a key part maintaining and improving everything we do at Markham College. The following principles underlie our approach.
Development should aim at improving the level of education of our students
All teaching staff can develop their practice
This is different for each teacher
The individual is the best placed person to identify their own areas of development
Each section of the school has it's own goals, and the approach followed by each section varies. Often these involve INSET Days, sometimes with external speakers visiting. Your T&L Coordinator will share these with you.
Alongside the section focus, we want to offer all teaching staff the opportunity to develop their own teaching practice in the way which suits them. With this in mind, we have developed the CPD Options Programme. You can read all about this programme, and see the presentation given to launch the programme on this page.
It is also possible to apply for funding for a variety of external CPD opportunities.
There is also a wealth of information available on this website, which you can easily access via tl.markham.edu.pe. Please do take some time to have a look through this site to see the resources available.
The whole school T&L Team committee is made up of the following members from across the different sections of the school. If you have any questions and Teaching and Learning or Professional Development at Markham College, then these are the people to contact.
