Coaching At Markham

One of the aspects of the CPD Options Programme at Markham College is coaching. For teachers who opt for coaching, they can expect to engage in professional conversations with their coach to help them solve problems and improve their teaching practice.

The coaching programme is built around two different types of coaching, that serve different purposes, and involve differing levels of time commitments. In either case, a teacher is partnered with a coach who will meet with them regularly to discuss the teacher's goals and the progress they are making towards them.

Instructional Coaching

Our instructional coaching model is based upon the work of Jim Knight and the Instructional Coaching Group. In particular the books The Impact Cycle (Knight, 2018) and Better Conversations (Knight, 2016) have formed a grounding for the programme.

GROWTH Coaching

The GROWTH Framework was introduced to Markham through training by Christian van Nieuwerburgh and Growth Coaching International, and the model we follow is inspired by their work (Campbell © Growth Coaching International, 2016).
