Principles of Great Teaching
The Principles of Great Teaching
The Principles of Great Teaching at Markham College represent the 16 key ideas that encompass great teaching at Markham College. In turn, great teaching is defined as that which leads to great learning.
These 16 Principles are split into two sections: the Core Principles are the four identified as the most important, which are incorporated into every episode of great teaching; the Outer Principles are a further twelve that would be incorporated into great teaching over time.
Alongside the Principles, there are three Standards for Teaching at Markham College. These are three concrete strategies that are being incorporated into lessons. They have been chosen as they cover a wide variety of the Principles, and with the belief that some areas of consistency will help improve the learning environment of our students.
