This is only relevant if you are applying to the school for funding towards your CPD, or requesting cover to attend an event. If you are completing a free course or other professional development for which you do not require financial support from the school nor do you require a cover teacher for your classes, then you do not need to follow the rest of the steps laid out here, however you may still wish to be coached to help embed the new learning.. You should still let your T&L Coordinator know so they can add it to your CPD Profile.
Discuss the course with your Head of Department or Head of Year as appropriate to ensure it fits within the wider development plan.
Make a copy of the “Request for Financial Assistance” form (you can do that by clicking here).
Fill in the form, either electronically or by hand.
Submit this to your T&L Coordinator for approval.
This procedure should take place with enough time for the T&L Coordinator to review and approve the course. The time requirements for approval are proportional to the amount of money being requested. That is, the more money you are requesting, the earlier you need to submit the application.
Also note the following conditions which must be met when applying for funding. These are taken from the “Request for Financial Assistance” document and you will have to sign to say you agree to these:
the course must be from a reputable educational provider
the course must be in a recognised development area in relation to the member of staff’s academic or pastoral role
the course must be fully and successfully completed
the member of staff must remain in employment until the end of their contract, or for at least 2 years if on a permanent contract, after completion of the course
a copy of the diploma/certificate/etc. must be provided to the school, via the Teaching and Learning Coordinator, or (in the case of Early Years) the Curriculum Coordinator, on completion of the course
the member of staff must complete their proposed method of sharing their professional learning experience, including the compulsory blog post, before they complete their employment with the school
Once you have completed the course, you should send the certificate of completion (or some other form of confirmation) to your T&L Coordinator, who will then add this course to your CPD Profile.
