Central idea: Maintaining peace and resolving conflict can help humans to live harmoniously.
The children have worked hard in their Maths lessons by practising their mental arithmetic and recalling their times table. They have done well to remember their number bonds and use this knowledge to work out addition and subtraction decimal problems with speed and accuracy.
In our Inquiry lessons we have been discussing different types of conflict and exploring World War One. They have used their geography and history skills to research the start of World War One looking at the countries part of the Central Powers and the Triple Entente. Leading into inquiry two Cedar will discover the impact the Great War had on many European countries.
Reading our core text 'Stay Where You Are and Just Leave' by John Boyne set during World War One has provided children with the understanding of the range of emotions families felt at the time. As part of the writing lessons, Cedar wrote diary entries as the main character Alfie who experiences his father departing to go to fight in the war. The children captured the fear and uncertainty within their diaries using great emotive language to create thoughtful pieces of writing.
It was lovely to have some of our parents and guardians to celebrate Father's Day. The trenches that were made were amazing! We thank you for your time and continued support.
