Central idea: People have a responsibility to understand how to look after living things (plants).
Over the past fortnight, we have delved into our first line of inquiry, different types of plants. The children had lots of wonderful existing knowledge about plants and we enjoyed exploring our school grounds to see how many different types of plants we have. We have been fortunate enough to have the help of Mr Townsend, who taught us lots about different types of trees and how to identify them through their characteristics. We have created wonderful observational drawings and documented our learning. We have also learnt about the parts of a plant and have labelled them.
In computing, we have learnt about directions, linked to our learning last module in maths. We have used the beebots to programme and describe our directions.
In maths, we have started to learn about place value in numbers between 50 and 100. The children have applied their knowledge of partitioning to these higher numbers and have successfully used the part-whole model to show this.
The children loved taking part in sports day and they all worked incredibly hard and were very brave to partake in all of the activities!
