Central idea: Children encounter a range of risks, challenges and opportunities.
We have been really busy these last two weeks working through our Inquiry where we have learnt about children's rights and the challenges children face around the world. The children have been really engaged and intrigued about all aspects of this and how they can support these issues around the world. As part of our inquiry and art we have been looking at an artist that creates face sculptures. We have been practising all of our art techniques to produce a 3D version of one of his sculptures to show the children's feelings and representation of their thoughts on the challenges children face around the world.
In maths, we have been looking at time and have started this week looking at angles. In the picture above you can see the children using their knowledge from previous maths sessions to identify angles that we created on our classroom tables and then decided what type of angle they are. The children were engaged in this and used great teamwork to discuss whether they thought it was acute, right angle or obtuse.
In Writing the children have been learning about playscripts and have written their own scene of the play we are currently practising for 'Oliver.' The children really enjoyed looking into the story of Oliver and seeing what they will be doing in the coming weeks to practice and perform our version of the play.
