Oak        Learning Update

Central idea: People communicate to share knowledge and experiences.

Team Oak understands our emotions, body language and facial expressions are an effective way of communicating with others. After looking closely at The Colour Monster, we started to explore colour and the impact it has on our emotions. Team Oak explored using colour in many ways while using a range of artistic media, discussing their feelings as they created.

Throughout the week we listened to and appreciated different musical genres including Samba, Rocks, Blues and Classical.

Fliss said: "This makes me feel calm." (Classical)

Izabella said: "This makes me feel happy." (Samba)

Archer said: "This sounds a bit angry." (Rock)

Using this we began to create pieces of art, both painting and drawing, in response to music. The adults in Team Oak have all been blown away by the outcomes!

This week we have started to look at communication around the world and how it differs. We have started to find out about Japan. We already know that in Japan, they greet friends and family differently. We have been learning how to communicate our feelings through dance. We look forward to sharing some of this with you next week...

Finally, A huge THANK YOU to the parents that were able to attend our Art Workshop on Tuesday. It was a joy to see the family collaborations and importantly, the children all spoke positively about the event afterwards. Here a few of the pictures captured on the day.
