Principal's Message

We would like to thank the PTA for organising and running our Christmas Fair last Saturday. Thank you also to those of you who attended the Fair. We hope it was a nice way to start the Christmas period.

We have noticed that lots of children have started coming through the gate after 8.45am. Please can we remind you that the gate opens at 8.30am and all children should be in school by 8.45am when the registers will be taken and lessons begin.

We are very excited to have started our rehearsals for the Nativity, KS2 carol concert and KS2 musical instrument concert. We would like to remind all of those attending the performances that photos are allowed to be taken - but they must NOT be posted on any social media platforms if they contain any other children. Thank you to all those parents who have helped with costumes - it's very much appreciated.

Have a fabulous weekend and we'll see you all next week.

Leigh Academies Trust is consulting on the admissions arrangements for Marden Primary Academy. This consultation is required in line with paragraph 1.45 of the School Admissions Code, which states that admission authorities must consult on their admission arrangements at least once every 7 years, even if there have been no changes during that period. The current admissions arrangements can be found linked below and, whilst the PAN is increasing, no changes are proposed to these arrangements.

Consultation period and comments

The consultation will run from 1st December 2023 until 4th January 2024, and we invite comments from existing parents and any other interested parties.

Those who do not have access to the internet can collect a paper copy of this document from the Reception desk at the Academy. Comments on the admissions arrangements should be made in writing by 4th January 2024.

Office Messages

Academy Uniform

All pupils should now be in Winter uniform and not wearing shorts or summer dresses to school.

Winter uniform is expected to be worn from Autumn Term 2 through to the end of Spring Term 4.

Summer uniform can be worn from the start of the Summer Term 5 through to the half term of Autumn Term 1.

Parents can choose to switch to the winter uniform earlier than October if the weather is cold.

Christmas Card Post Box

The Christmas Card Post Box will be on display in Reception until the last day of term. Children are invited to write cards for their friends and staff and then post them through the letter box.

Please ensure the recipient's name and class are written on the front of the envelope and our Year 6 elves will do daily collections and deliveries to the classrooms.

Due to GDPR we are unable to provide class lists to parents, however, staff should be able to help with a list of first names upon request.

Assembly from Go Group

Next week we are delighted to welcome employees from Go Group for an afternoon assembly, where they will speak with our Key Stage 2 children about the essential skills needed to work for a global moving and logistics business.  It’s a fantastic opportunity for our young learners to explore the world of work and gain valuable insights into the skills required to work for a global business, based in Marden, who actively encourage recruitment from the local area. We look forward to welcoming them on Thursday 7th December.

National Online Safety

After a lengthy gestation period, the UK Government’s wide-ranging changes to the legislation around digital safeguarding have become enshrined in law as the Online Safety Act. The first of its kind in Britain, the act aims to improve protection for children online and clamp down on illegal material. Regulated by Ofcom, it will primarily impact social media platforms and companies which host user-generated content.

The new legislation, however, also carries implications for schools and their staff. Although further developments are expected, our #WakeUpWednesday guide summarises the main points of the act that schools need to be aware of so far – outlining some specific areas that the new laws address and what effect, in practical terms, this will have on education providers.
